Nuestra Seniora de Patrocinio Maria Parish Church

This church was built in 1599 by the Augustinians. It was passed on to the Jesuits in 1737, yet was passed back to the Augustinians in 1747. The original church burnt during a fire in 1782, and was reconstructed during the term of Fr. Ambrosio Otero, OSA the following year, and this reconstructed church stands to today.

The church is connected to the Rectory, which is L-shaped, as it was the tradition of the period. This rectory is probably the oldest and biggest remaining residential building from the Spanish period in Boljoon.

The rectory is now a gallery where artifacts and other excavated things are displayed. Unfortunately, it wasn't open when I went there (going to Boljoon was indeed a wrong timing for me!).

I explored the church and found the place where they hold baptisms from then, till today!

Also, at the back was the convent, but we weren't allowed to enter it. Still, I got a picture of how it looks from the back.

Now, let's proceed to the building right beside the church--the Escuela Catolica.
